Quiff: retaining enough length for front height

A quiff wears the front with height while the rest can sit more loosely or quietly. A practical cut needs front length that suits both your growth direction and the effort you want to make at home.

Choose height in proportion to the rest

Show whether you mean a modest lift or a noticeably tall front. A high reference may be extensively blow-dried. Ask how the same cut falls without that styling, so you know what to expect on rushed mornings.

Keep useful length at the front

Too little length may allow only a short upright edge; too much may fall forwards under its own weight. Let your barber assess what your hair allows. Avoid copying measurements from a tutorial featuring different hair.

Also discuss the transition towards the crown. The whole top does not need to stand equally high to wear a quiff at the front.

See the styling sequence

Ask for a brief demonstration: which direction comes first during drying and when is product added? The shape established while drying can matter more than adding extra paste afterwards.

Try arranging the front with your own hand before leaving. If it only looks right after a complicated routine, discuss a lower version now.
