Beards
Uneven beard sides: compare the shape before taking more off
The left and right sides of a beard may not grow identically or fall in the same direction. That does not mean everything should be cut back to the shortest side. Start with the form you want to see from front and side.
Compare both sides in the same posture
Look with your head straight and without pressing one side flat. Explain whether the difference is direction, volume, length or outline. This prevents a shape difference automatically being treated as a length measurement.
A front photo and both side views help explain where the balance feels wrong to you.
Choose the silhouette you want
You can adjust an edge to make the appearance calmer or deliberately retain length where it falls well. Discuss what you want to see rather than asking only to “make it equal”.
For a larger change, ask to assess one side first before taking much more from the other.
Use your routine as the test
Comb or arrange both sides as you do at home. If the difference mainly comes from everyday direction, a small change in handling may matter more than removing length.
At the next appointment, explain what changed during grow-out. You can then build deliberately on the shape that works.
