Styling and care
Styling a fringe: stop the front splitting unintentionally
The front is often the first part that changes a haircut’s character. A fringe can be straight, broken, soft or textured. Your existing length and the direction in which hair naturally falls matter more than one fixed styling trick.
See where the fringe naturally separates
Dampen your hair slightly and observe the natural separation at the hairline. Forcing directly against that growth can make the fringe spring open after an hour. Show your barber what it does on an ordinary morning.
Dry the front with a purpose
Use fingers for a loose fringe or a brush for a clearer line. Dry from root to tip in small movements instead of pressing the whole front flat with a lot of product.
Keep the finish light
Take a minimal amount of paste or clay, warm it up and work only the tips or areas that lack direction. If the fringe stays in place only as one hard block, less product or a different haircut shape is likely better.
